You've never seen this!

I have been reading up on bad beat stories on the internet and finally decided to post the one that still makes me giggle. It has been about 5 or 6 years since this occurred and is still fresh in my memory bank.

Top 3 Beginner Rooms

Let's lay the foundation. Back when Party Poker was "legal" in the U.S. I was playing the daily super tournament which was a $150 buy in. It was like any other tourney with a first place prize of about $40k.

The very first hand of the tournament I pick up TcTh under the gun. I limp and there is a raise 5 times the big blind and 4 of us go to the flop. Flop comes **Ts, Td, 9s**. My eyes light up and a huge smile come across my face and I check the flop. Guy next to me pots it and 2 other guys call. Now it is back to me and I let my timer go down to show that it might be a tough call for me (but I am really thinking is how I can extract more money ). So I just smooth call.

The turn comes **Kh**. I think to myself that that is a bingo card for me because these dumb@#$%%$# must be chasing straight or flushes. I check again and the guy next to me shoves. Bells and whistles are going off in my head because I will be starting out this tournament with a monster stack. To my amazement, the 2 other guys call the all-in be. Now I am loving life!!!! I "insta call" and everyone flips over there cards. This is the point where it is all slow motion.

The guy who shoved flips over QsJs. The first caller (who was the original raiser) flips over AsAh (drawing dead). And the guy who called after him flips over KcKd for a fullhouse. This is where all time in the internet gaming world stopped. For those of you that have played at Party Poker you will know about this. This is a slight hesitation before the river comes out and when this happens, you know that something bad is about to happen.

After the slight pause that seemed like 10 minutes, the river comes out…and you guessed it **Ks**. A quadruple up that was supposed to come my way gets shipped 1 click to my left to a King high straight flush which just beat KKKK and my TTTT.

After the hand, the 4 of us sat on the table and chatted for about another 45 minutes discussing the hand and what each of us was thinking. This goes to show that EVERY hand is vulnerable and you elect to slow play your monster, always remember that there is another monster out there that can gobble you up.

Good luck to all-

Mahorowitz a.k.a IskillzI
