Who is Annette Obrestad?

Annette Obrestad is a 19-year-old Norwegian professional poker player who has amassed millions of dollars playing poker. The fact that she is a girl in a game largely dominated by men would in itself be cause for great praise, as would be the fact that she won the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe main event championship at the age of 18, making her the youngest bracelet winner ever, a claim no male Internet phenom can claim. What is truly amazing though, is that Annette has never been on the negative side of the poker ledger. Annette became a poker millionaire without ever investing a dime of her own money.

The Annette_15 Legend Grows

Annette began her career at the start of the poker boom at the age of only 15. Not having any means to deposit her own money due to her age, she began playing freeroll tournaments as Annette_15. Her incredible skill and patience eventually led to a bankroll in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. She is consistently ranked in the top 10 among online players, most often frequenting the PokerStars, FullTiltPoker and Ultimate Bet sites.

Annette's legend continued when she allegedly won a 180-person sit-and-go tournament without ever looking at her cards other than on a single hand where an opponent had moved all-in on her. She went on to add to this feat with her championship performance at the WSOP Europe.

A Poker Role Model

Annette Obrestad breaks all the preconceived notions about success in poker. Those who believe women can't succeed in the game need only look to Annette. Those who think you need a big bankroll to be successful can observe Annette's example. Even those who claim never to get the cards they need to win can turn to Annette's blind sit-and-go win for inspiration. Whether you are female, young, Norwegian or simply someone who appreciates great poker, you can find a role model in Annette Obrestad.
