WSOP 2010 - The 41st World Series of Poker
Just like last year's World Series of Poker, the 2010 installment of the WSOP will be a battle for 57 bracelets across the same number of events spanning nearly all poker variations. As usual, thousands of poker players will be shipping in to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
More on the WSOP:
The 2010 edition of the WSOP will feature a total of 57 events, which is the same amount as last year. The competition will run between May 27 and July 17. Just like last year the final table of the Main Event will take a long break and return as the November Nine. The final table will be played in November. The most exciting addition in 2010 is arguably the $50,000 WSOP Players Championship, a mixed game that replaces the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E - a very prestigious bracelet that all the pros will want to win.

More Small Events
Following up on the success of the "Stimulus Special" from 2009 (which alone attracted over 6,000 players); the 2010 WSOP adds an additional seven $1,000 buy-in events. These lower buy-in tournaments will he held during the weekends of the WSOP starting May 28.
World Champion Events
A total of eleven $10,000 World Champion Events will be arranged. New for this year is that the buy-in to the H.O.R.S.E. World Championship is down to $10,000, whereas the Players Championship takes over as the largest buy-in event.
However, the Players Championship is also a mixed game; In addition to No-Limit Holdem, Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz, 7-Card Stud and 7-Card Stud Hi-Lo, Limit Holdem, Pot-Limit Omaha and 2-7 Triple Draw are also added to the mix. The winner is awarded the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy. The final table is scheduled for broadcast on ESPN, but then the game switches to NL Holdem only.
We are definitely in for a great World Series of Poker 2010 - after a decline in participants over a few years, it looks like the WSOP is once again on the rise.
Another exciting new addition to the 2010 WSOP is a six-handed holdem event with a $25,000 buy-in. It's a four-day event that is bound to attract lots of familiar pros, especially since the $40,000 no-limit holdem event has been removed, leaving the 6-max tournament the most expensive holdem-only event of this year's World Series.
In addition, the "Ante Up for Africa" $5,000 charity tournament returns for the fourth year in a row. Don Cheadle and Annie Duke are organizing this event, which will surely draw a celebrity crowd.
