Who Is First to Act Heads Up?
Question:
When you are playing head to head I understand that the button is the little blind and the other player is the big blind but who plays first? I am new to the game and am trying to figure this one out. Thanks.

Answer:
When you play head to head, the button is the small blind just as you wrote. The small blind/button acts first pre-flop, as opposed to a game with more than two players, where the player who sits after big blind is first to act. On later streets, however, the button acts last just as in a full-ring game. So the button is still the most favorable position, even when the game is played heads-up.
