When does at bet become official?

Question:

I purposely vocally stated I was going all in, out of my betting order, trying to scare some people off; there were 2 players to bet before me.

When it came to my bet I was told I already declared my bet and could not change it, so I was all in.

My question is: when does your bet become official? When it is your turn or when you state a bet?

Your bet becomes official whenever you state it. The reason for this is to prevent people from doing what you tried to do: influencing the game by acting out of turn.
