Two under cards with the same draw

I'm playing in a free roll poker start tournament. Everyone starts with 1500 in chips. I lost to a common bad beat and now have about $700 left.

I look down at 9d 8d in early position.

It's a family pot, everyone calls. Flop is 10d 9c 2d

I immediately go all in for all that is left, hoping to take it down. Hoping I don't get called.

I get one caller who has 6d 7d, I can't blame him/her. I was short.

That is one of the safest hands I could be against. Two under cards with the same draw but lower? Perfect.

Turn is an A c, I'm like counting my chips. I'll be back in the game.

Well the river is, you guessed it by now, an 8 that was not a diamond. I lose to a straight.

Really getting tired of this game. I tend to get my really bad beats when I'm all-in. Wish they would happen when it doesn't hurt.

Answer:

That's a bad beat Ronald. You can't play the hand any different, but I know that's not much of a comfort when you lose to a three outer.

Hope your all-in luck will turn.
