Texas Holdem dealer mistake

Dealer goes all in with $10,000, small blind calls and big blind calls too. Then dealer deals out the cards, flop, turn & river with out waiting on the other 2 players to make their bets. Small blind player was chip leader, big blind had $2000 left.

Does the hand still play or is the hand dead and all players get their money back and deal again with same dealer? Or would dealers hand be considered dead & remaining 2 players hands play?

Hi Amy,

According to betting rules, when one player goes all in and the other players have still some chips left, the betting continues as usual. All new bets are put into the side pot which will go to the winner of the pot (in this case, if small blind and big blind both decide to continue the betting, the side pot winner is decided between them and all players compete for the main pot).

If dealer deals cards without waiting for side pot bets there is nothing much to do. I guess you'll have to enforce the house rules then and decide what to do. There is no official rules for this 'cause in tournaments, online poker or live play at casino, professional dealers hardly ever make this kind of mistake. I would suggest to finish playing that hand and make sure it would never happen again.

I hope that helps.

Marcus
