Ten Bad Beats!

Ok well I am the guy who buys pre paid cards and deposits into bodog almost every other day. Somedays I play cash games with the intention of being a "donkey" (I'll buy into $25 tables with $5 and try and triple up) other days I play it safe and play the minimum $10 buy in tables. Or I play in tournaments such as $5 buy in or $10 buy ins with $1,000-$3,000 guaranteed. We'll let me start my stories off with the $25 cash game

Top 3 Beginner Rooms

Bad Beat # 1

Oh yeah before I go any further this is bodog! The worst poker website ever!!

Bad Beat # 1

My hand A7 clubs. Blinds 25/50 ( I had just won three big hands and
now have $35 from the $5 I had bought in. In my mind the perfect time
to get up and find a new table) However I stay for a few more hands.
Four callers with the guy in last position raising the pot. So now its
$1.50 for me to call, and Ive been running hot. I call and so do the
two other players. Now if I miss the flop I'm folding with no
hesitation and leaving the table. To my amazement flop is : 10 c 4c Q
c.. I flop the nut flush.. and check it. Late position raises $3.50..
( He has my stack covered he had about $55). The other two fold, I
don't wait I push my whole stack all in .. hoping he has Kc draw or
made his flush already. He calls $30 and shows QQ .. and the turn...
YOU GUESSED IT 4 .. giving him a full house and killing my ace high
flush. This is just the beginning though folks.

Bad Beat # 2

Im playing in a tournament $7 buy in $1 website charge. 89 players
with the top 9 being paid. Starting chip stack 1,500 .. I start the
tourney out playing lose and firing at pots, because from experience I
never want to be on the bubble. I'd rather lose early than lose in
10th place. It stings too much, anyway, Im at about 1,200 chips.. with
63 players remaining, blinds are at 50/100.. 4 players in the hand,
with the BB raising 200 . I have j10 offsuit, however like I said I'd
like to take risks with marginal hands knowing that everybody playing
tight will only push with the nuts. One other player calls behind me.
Flop j 10 9 .. two clubs, early position postures and bets 200 .. if I
just call I'll be left with 800 chips. (Once I'm under the 1,000 mark
I know its only a matter of time before I push with nothing so why not
push with top 2 pair). Player behind me instacalls. 1st raiser folds..
caller show 7 8 os.. no 10 or j on the turn and river and I lose. Is
that bad luck or do I suck? I don't know but it seems like whenever I
push all in with two pair online it loses to a flush or str8. And when
I call with a straight or flush I lose to a boat.

Bad Beat # 3

This is not really a bad beat but an example of how playing really
good poker can just come back to kick you in the rear end. I have 6 7
of diamonds in the Borgata in Atlantic City, $1/$2 table.. bought in
for $120 and have about $75 left. Two players behind me .. one who has
been tight all day and the other relatively new to the table ( both
saw me lose a $50 pot three hands before when my KJ lost to 66.. flop
K 10 8 and I bet all the way thru .. only to see the river hit a 6 and
lose me the pot).. The player right behind me raise $10 and the other
player calls. So I'm a little hot still, why not call and "get lucky"
flop K 10 3 two diamonds.. I push all in for $65 .. player behind me
folds.. last guy in the hand calls $ 65 !!!! with J9.. no diamond and
no 6 or 7 hit and I lose.. Just a bad run for me when my flush semi
bluff doesnt work, but I don't lose to a pair of kings in that
scenario . I lose to J HIGH.. thats just bad poker.. he had no reason
to think I would bluff. He called $65 with a gut shot straight draw
into a $35 pot.. thats not even getting value for you hand. As I see
it . I represented a King at least so he was ultimately behind in his
own mind. Just another person that called me when I make a fancy play.

Bad Beat # 4

Once again in the Borgata at the $5/$10 table.. I had bought in for
$650 and was planning on going to the $1/$2 table. I just wanted to
see a couple of flops for bigger money than I'm used to. I fold my
blinds three times and I am getting upset because I haven't played a
single hand (because I'm being raised everytime I'm blind) so my 4th
BB I finally get a decent hand .. JJ .. I raise preflop $25 and get re
raised by the only player left $50 more. Ok he either has over cards
pocket pair .. whatever I call .. Im leaving next hand anyway. FLOP: 8
J 8.. I flop a boat. I check . He raises me $200 .. I push all in $400
more.. he calls with QQ .. turn 9 .. river Q .. Thats one of the
sickest Id ever seen. Then I get up from the table sick to my stomach
and buy in at a $1/$2 table for $100 1st hand AK os.. call the
blinds.. one player goes all in after me.. one other player calls..
its to me with 2 players all in for $100 .. I fold.. flop comes k 10 2
.. Im sick because the players showed JJ and AK.. turn 2 .. I'm still
mad I could have chopped with the guy with AK.. river Jack.. I was
glad I hadn't tilted and called however I was too distracted by my
worst beat (money wise) to focus and donked off my other $98

Bad Beat # 5

This one actually involves me winning. I had 10d 8 d .. in the sb with
three players in the hand .. at a local cash game $1/$2 blinds with
$100 in front of me.. flop comes jd 9d 4h .. I check .. one player
bets like $5 .. two calls and I call.. with a straight and flush
draw.. turn is the j h .. I check two others check.. and the better
bets $15 .. two folds to me.. now I put the player on a jack .. so I
call with my flush or straight being good. River 7 d .. I hit the
straight flush.. and check .. the better raises $30 and I push all
in.. he calls with j9 for a full house and I hit my straight flush and
double up. Two hands later I call a preflop raise of $4 with 33 .. and
the flop came 3 3 k .. player raises with AK and I re raise him all in
because he was short stacked ( he had about $45 left) he called and
was in disbelief.

Bad Beat # 6

After doubling up on a queen high flush that I hit on the river .. I
am dealt as the BB and get 37 os.. with one other player in the hand
and blinds being $1/$2 .. we both check to see a "free" flop.. now I
just hit a miracle river flush .. so i'm feeling lucky. Flop comes a 3
3 .. rainbow. I bet and the player re raises me.. I tend to be
aggressive from time to time and I push all in thinking that my trips
3's are good. Player calls with a3.. bad luck I suppose

Bad Beat # 7

Playing at a local cash game I buy in for $100 and the blinds are
$1/$2 .. I have 4-5 os in the BB .. with no raises I check.. flop
comes a 5 5 .. rainbow... four handed two checks and a $5 raise.. I re
raise $15 .. only to see two calls and a re raise to $30 .. thinking
that now its possible some one could have the other 5 I slow down and
just call.. turn 4 .. two checks a $10 raise .. so I feel strong now
and push all in .. only to see two folds and a call.. what did he call
with "a5" just spinning out of control with the bad beats

Bad Beat # 8

Maybe not a bad beat but a bad play on my part . 10 people at the
table cash game same as the one above.. I get AA in late position . I
raise $18 .. and I get one caller.. flop 8 q 4 .. he raises all in ..
what can I do I have to call.. he shows q8d and justifies his call by
saying it was suited.. no ace come and no pair to the board I lose. I
don't know if I suck at poker or If I just really run into bad
situations.. But it seems like the more I play especially online the
more bad beats I see. And a lot of people say in the "long run" I will
be good because I tend to play solid hands.. I don't think I will be,
only because I've been playing for 5 years now.. I know thats not a
long time .. but thats about $500 a year.. and its $500 a year I don't
really have.. and I just lose with good hands to rags constantly.

Since I gave you 8 bad beats might as well keep it even and give you 2 more ..

Bad Beat # 9

Im at a new cash game in my area with a lot of older players and some
young guns that have been bluffing me out of pots that I felt I was
good in. However I keep my cool when I get bullied because I know my
oppurtunity will come, and I can have a monster hand versus just a
draw. This is one of my worst beats ever because this hand destroyed a
bank roll that I had accumulated over a 2 month rounding period.
Recall I am a college student ;) I'm not rich . I buy in for $450 ..
im down to about $275 at this point.. just calling and missing flops.
I get 66 in the bb .. 4 handed.. 1st guy bets .. 2nd calls.. 3rd
calls.. about a $15 raise. Im thinking 66 can't be too strong so if i
miss the flop get out of the hand.. flop 6 d 7d 8h .. my luck I flop a
set with a flush draw on board and a straight draw. 1st position
raises $30 .. 2nd guy calls.. 3rd calls.. I think my hand is good
because noone re raises and everyone could be drawing. I push all in
$250 more. all 3 call.. 1st guy shows AQ d 2nd shows 99 with the 9 d..
3rd shows 77 .. no flush or straight comes and the trip 7's hold up
and I lose. Is that a bad play by me. ?? I don't think so however it's
not too smart to throw $250 into a pot of $100 .. but I truely thought
my hand was best.

Bad Beat # 10

Honestly I have soo many of these stories I could go all night but I
will end it with this one. I know a lot of my bad beat stories have
been from live games.. however I lose a lot more money online from bad
beats.. its just I don't recall them because they are for $15-$70 ..
my live bad beats are for $200-$600 .. so this last bad beat is from
online. Of course we are talking about Bodog poker again. Now this is
for a heads up sit n go for $55 .. ok so I'm just gonna show all the
hands and how they flopped and were bet...

there were 4 bad beats in the tourney . We started with 1500 each.
1st BB : My hand 2-6 os .. he had 8 10 d .. no preflop raise
flop: 2 a 7 (no diamonds) I bet pot for 70 chips he calls
turn : 6 .. I raise 150 he calls
river 9: I check he raises 200 I call .. he rivers his runner runner straight

2nd BB: I at like 900 chips now
My Hand : 3-6 os his hand: k3 os
free flop: 3 3 k .. I raise he calls
turn : k .. i check he goes all in I fold.. he shows the fullhouse.. I
was ahead by a lot before that turn

3rd BB : Im now stacking chips again at about 1,200
My hand: 38 his hand K7
No preflop raise.. flop: 3 8 10 .. I raise 150 he calls
turn K : I raise 200 he calls
river : 7 i check he checks and shows his runner runner two pair to
beat my flopped two pair which I bet the entire way

4th BB : this isn't really bad beat but I had 500 chips left and this
was the hand I got knocked out on he played it well (I guess)
My hand : QJ (raise preflop 200 ) his hand: k6 (he calls)
Flop : a j 6 .. ( im all in for 300 more .. and he calls)
turn : q
river : 6

Now you explain to me is this bad luck.. I know majority of the hands
from bad beat #10 were bad hands.. but they were free to see and they
hit.. now I'm just curious.. Ive lost $750 the last two months.. do I
quit playing cards? Or do I take another 3 month break to try and
develop some luck,??

LTH comment:

You clearly have had a lot of bad luck. If you think all the bad beats are affecting your game, it's a good idea to take a break a cool down. Otherwise, you should just keep playing solid poker and wait for the luck to turn.
