Raising after you have called

Love your site.

In our home game we had this situation come up. Three players were left in the pot. At the turn the 1st player to act bet, the 2nd player to act called and the 3rd player raised. The 1st player called and the 2nd player reraised.

One of the players not in the hand thought that a reraise after a call was not allowed. We were not sure but we treated it as a check raise and allowed it.

Were we correct in allowing the raise or not?

Thanks Steve

Answer:

Hi Steve,

You were correct in allowing it. There is no rule against raising after a call. When a player raises his/her opponents has always the option to act on that raise by folding, calling or re-raising.

Hope this clarifies the matter.
