Answer: Yes you have it right, the ability to adapt based on what you have learned is the key to good poker and business. You don't want to become complacent and let the competition define your future; it's all up to you. You can draw a number of parallels from poker and business.
Now as for the wild games, you'll need to look at the number of players in preflop to decide what starting hands will most likely make money. You may have a wild game with just 3 players in preflop or you may have one where 8-10 people are in. Normally with just one maniac at the table you'll have just three way action or heads up action. In that type of game, just play your normal strategy of waiting for good hands like AK, AQ, KK, etc. They will do fine since you'll only have one or two opponents (regardless of the cap preflop).
When 5 people are seeing every flop and the action is capped (max raises), then you'll need to open up more. What happens with five people seeing the flop with that many bets in is that whatever small holding they have they get the correct odds to continue. You're top pair won't hold up very often; instead, you'll want to play suited middle cards and above. You can throw in some smaller ones too but the larger rank they are the better. Since it will be so costly to see the flop maybe you'll just want to play suited cards 8 and above. Some of these might be T8, J9, Q9, QT etc. You want suited cards that can make either a straight, flush or two pair. That doesn't mean you'll fold AA and AQ but it means that you won't make the majority of your money from those hands (unless you get lucky).
Next, on the flop you need to pay attention to odds and your chance of the hand holding up if it hits. Remember that in these wild games when your hand does hold up and win you end up with a massive pot, sometimes 2 racks or more. You'll be seeing more turn cards and more rivers then you normally are comfortable with for two reasons; one, you assume since everyone is playing every hand they don't have as much; two, you're getting great odds both implied and regular. The bottom line is starting hand selection is just the start and with wild games you'll end up making money by your post flop play rather then the starting hand play.
