Typical Rake Amount

Question: 1st question:

I was just in a home cash game, $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em. I raised $25. Player 2 went all-in w/ $32. Player 3 limpped in and just called. When it got to me, I tried to reraise and go all in w/ $220. I was told that I could only call Player 2's all-in at $32 total. I knew I had player 3 dominated. He flopped a cheap 2 pair. My KK was no good. Is this normal in a home or even casino game?

2nd question.

What would be a proper rake in a $1/$2 No Limited cash game? The pot gets very big. We've been raking $1 max every round if the total bet for that round equals $20 minimum.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer1: Typically you arne't allowed to reraise another player's all-in bet unless it is half or more of the original bet. If it is half or more of the bet, then you can complete it or reraise. So in a $10/20 game, if I raised to $20 preflop and another player went all-in for $25, I couldn't reraise.

Answer2: How much gets raked from the pot depends on where you play. If you play online then usually the max they ever take from the pot is $3. That max can be less than $3 if the total number of players at the table is less than 10. If you play at other cardrooms they can rake as much as twice that amount per pot, even on low limit games because they drop $4 for the cardroom, then a dollar or even two for jackpots, etc. I think your system is fine. There are other ways to rake too, like charging per seat per hour which is common for no limit games since they don't deal as many hands per hour as regular limit games.
