Trip Jacks Losing To QQ On River

Question: Hi, I just found your site today and its been very helpful. Last night I was playing online limit holdem for $.50/1 and I get AJoff in the hole and I was in last position. Two people call the big blind and I believe I did too, then the flop comes TJJ and everybody checks to me and I bet, everybody called, the turn was a T so I have the best full house, and again everybody checked to me and I bet, at this point I believe two people folded and there are 3 of us left. The river brings a Q which worries me because a JQ can take me, and somebody of course bets before me and we reraise till the limit. The guy had pocket Queens, now I was devastated, I don't understand why he would have stayed in all the way to the river since I had bet on the flop and the turn, with TJJT on the table. Should I adjust anything in my game or is that just lucky/bad play by the other person. Thanks.

Answer: That was just a horrible bad beat. There is nothing you could do about it. The lesson to learn here is that sometimes the biggest idiot in the world playing as poorly as possible still can beat you when you do everything right. That is very frustrating but you also have to understand that in the long run you will get them. Even if he wins that one day and leaves, he'll be back and lose the money into the poker pool.

This isn't much comfort but it is worth mentioning. You are going to lose a lot in poker, eventually you'll have people bad beat you in every way imaginable and you'll wonder how anyone could actually play with real money and be such a moron. But that is how we make our money, not by good players; so do your best to maintain your sanity until your winning hands come around again.
