Touching Another Player's Cards
I was recently in a "house" game and playing with about 12 guys I didn't know. The hand in question was between this other guy and me. I only had a 10 / 4 off suit and was checking and betting with this other guy until the river card. I realized I was trying to bluff to win the hand and I can't remember if we checked on the river or if he or I bet, but I showed a pair of 4's (one 4 in my hand and one 4 on the board) he showed a pair of six's (one 6 in his hand and one 6 on the board) I knew, and he knew, that he had won.

I mucked my other card, without showing, and it landed in the muck pile because I knew I had lost. This other player then grabbed my card I threw away and turned it over just to see what it was. THE NERVE!
I told him that if he wanted to see my card, even though he won, that he can ask the dealer to turn the card over and not to touch my cards again. He got upset and we almost went at each other.
I have been catching some flack over this and I want to make sure I understand this scenario. I do not want to be incorrect in my game play / etiquette.
Thank you,
Wade
Answer: Your annoyance is justified. No player is allowed to touch another player's cards, the cards in the muck or any chips other than their own. If he wanted to see what your hand was, he needed to ask the dealer before the cards touched the muck pile. If they do go into the muck pile, no one can bring them out. Also, if someone asks to see all hands, you aren't supposed to muck them.
