Taking A Break From Table In Cardroom

Question: This might sound like a dumb question but when you are playing in a live poker room and need to use the "facilities" or want to get some of the free grub what do you do. Do you leave your chips on the table, take them with you what?? Also, what happens if one of the blinds passes you buy while you are gone? Do you need to ante up again? I am sure they won't let people keep leaving the table when the blind is almost to them

Answer: That's a good question, one that I bet you won't find an answer to in any book or online site. When you play at a cardroom you can get up whenever you like and use the restroom or get something to eat, get a drink, etc. You just leave your chips on the table and they are safe. To prevent people from holding the game up and leaving for hours on end, they have missed blind buttons.

Every time you miss your small or missed blind you get a missed blind button. When you have missed three big blinds then they call over a floor person, management, and the floorperson removes your chips. Then when you come back they of course return the chips to you. The one exception to when they won't pick up your chips is if there isn't a board, no one is waiting on the table, or if the table is already shorthanded.
