Seven Times Shuffling A Deck

Question/Comment: My question has to do with shuffling the deck. I have heard people say that it takes seven shuffles to completely randomize a deck and, usually, people shuffle at least three times between hands. I was thinking, though, that in Hold'em, players are not grouping cards in any particular order to make hands as they would, say, in five-card stud. Is there any real need to do a lot of shuffling between hands, then? It would seem that one or two shuffles would do just find. What do you think?

Answer: I'm not sure actually. What if say there were three flushes in the previous hand? The dealer would most likely put those cards at the top of the deck and then shuffle and deal. If you were to only shuffle twice, I'm not sure what the results would be. Since everyone only gets two cards, it may not have that much of an effect.

Just to be safe though, I prefer the dealer to both shuffle and scramble the cards everyhand. My rule is, "don't fix it unless it is broken." Anything that changes the game from what I've learned and makes it less easily to predict isn't a good thing. If anyone else reading this has some extra info here then send it in and I'll post it.
