Saying "Raise" In Holdem

Question:

Two players in heads-up action. Blind are at 400 & 800. Player A is the small blind. Player B is the big blind. Player A calls the big blind and also says "raise." Before Player A says how much he is raising, Player B says All-In and Player A folds. What happens next? Is Player A required to put in a raise and if so, how much?

Thanks in advance for the info...

Answer: In texas holdem poker, and other kinds of card games, if you announce raise, you can't take that action back. It doesn't matter if you are kidding, actually going to fold, etc. The minimum raise in both limit and no limit holdem is double the size of the big blind. The player who folded after announcing raise would have to put in the additional amount to make it twice the size of the big blind.

As a side note, in no limit holdem you can say "raise" then decide how much to raise after you view your opponents reaction. It is important to pay attention to what the opponents are doing. Often times if the player you are about to raise reaches for his chips or looks down at them right after you announce "raise", he is planning on calling at least. In limit holdem, it doesn't matter what his reaction is obviously because your raise amount is the same regardless.
