Rules For Revealing Hand

Question: I previously submitted this question around 12/26, but it has not been answered. Is there anywhere else I can get an answer if you cannot help?

The situation is; the river card has been dealt and betting is done. It is time to reveal the pocket cards.

Player 1 is called and reveals only 1 card, intentionally holding the second card, showing he has a pair of Q's. The second player reveals his 2 cards showing he has a straight and begins to collect the pot. But then player 1 reveals his second card showing he has a full house.

Player 2 rants that once player 1 revealed that he only had 1 pair of Q's that was his hand. Player 2 stated that Player 1 cannot use the second card to complete his full house.

Does it matter how the cards are revealed?

Can one card be revealed as discussed above and then a second later or must both cards be revealed at the same time?

Answer: There is a rule for revealing your hand and if that was followed this mess wouldn't have happened. The rule is simply that to take a pot a player must reveal both cards; that includes cases where even one card is enough to beat the other player. Both cards must be turned over at the same time.

In the dispute above, the person with the best hand should win.
