Ranking Of Suite In Texas Holdem
Question:We recently played and were in a dilemma on who was correct. We had 3 players who had a 10 in their pocket card and the community gave them all the same straight with the one card from their pocket hand. Some argued to use the 6th card (from the pocket) and take the highest, while others said the pot was to be split. A question was brought up about using the highest ranking suit on the 10. Are ranking of suits ever used in Texas Hold'em?

Answer: No, suite, makes no difference in texas holdem poker. The rule for evaluating hands is: Using the 5 community cards and 2 personal cards, the best 5 cards make a hand. So if everyone, using the 7 available cards, ends up having a straight, they split the pot. Kickers only matter when they are used for the best five cards. (For example, if we both had a pair of Kings.) Any cards over five are disregarded, there are no expections to this.
