Randomness Of Online Poker Sites
Question: I have started playing on-line within the last couple of months after years of friendly neighborhood games. I'm convinced that the "random" deals on the site I'm playing produce ridiculous flops, turns, and river combos that I would rarely see in a live brick & mortar card game. The site insists that their deals are "as random as current technology allows" and have yielded "favorable results" when tested against a live deck. Is there a consensus among experienced casino and/or tournament players about the validity of accepted poker probabilities vs. on-line play?
Thanks,
Jim

Answer: No there isn't a consensus. There are companies that the poker sites pay to review their logs and give them stamp of approval that they are "random" but obviously if you pay someone for something they can't be that independent. In defense of online sites I will say that since you see more hands per hour you will see more crazy stuff but the bottom line should always be, don't play where you don't feel comfortable -- especially if you think something shady is going on.
