Raising Limit In Limit Holdem

Question: I'm very new at hold 'em, so I have some simple questions.

1) About raising.

Say there are four players on the turn. The 1st to act bets, the 2nd raises, the 3rd raises, the 4th raises, and the 1st raises. Now, can the 2nd (and the rest as well) raise again, or does he have to call (or fold)? In other words, can the players keep raising each other infinitely or not?

2) About kickers with pair.

I think I know the answer to this one, I'm just making sure. Say there are two players. 1st has A3 and 2nd has A5. The table shows AQQ86. They will split the pot on account of both of their kickers being the 8, right?

Answer: For the raising question, there is a limit to how many times you can raise and it depends on where you play. Online and in CA, the limit is a bet and three raises. In Vegas it is one bet and four raises. So in your example, the 4th player raised to the limit (called a "cap"). This is the same in both no limit and limit holdem all though in no limit holdem, you usually won't see a lot of reraising; instead, there will most likely be fewer but larger raises.

So no, you can't keep raising indefinitely in the example you gave. After one bet and three raises, no more raising would be allowed. There is one exception to this rule that is worth mentioning. In some places if you are heads up, you can keep reraising indefinitely. You'll most likely be playing online though so that won't be the case.

In regards to the question about kickers, you have it right; they both have the same hands. They split the pot (chop it).
