Poker Charity Event
First of all, you have an impressive website and I thank you for it!
As for my question, with seemingly every cable channel on TV having Texas Hold 'Em tournaments - celebrity showdowns, World Series of this, championship of that; I think the Discovery Channel has a show teaching chimps how to play - poker has become a trendy game to play, not unlike Bridge in the '60s and Trivial Pursuit in the '80s.

If you're in Columbus, you can be the dealer if you want! :)
Answer: That's an excellent idea. I'm not sure how much help I can be though. The first thing I would look into is the legality of it. I would assume that it would be legal in any state since no real money is being wagered. The next thing I would do is to go and try to find a local person that has some tournament directing experience. You could do it yourself but having someone who has done it before will save you some heart ache.
Then it is a matter of just compiling the rules (which you can get at another tournament), setting up the tables, getting dealers, getting chips, and promoting. I think the main thing is just to have one person who knows what they are doing who can act as the floor person or director if there are complications; all though since it is a charity event I doubt anyone will be that upset if a bad ruling is made.
