Playing Lots of Hands In No Limit?

Question: hey do you think this is a good method to improving your reads and all around poker skills. every monday night i play in a dorm floor no limit holdem game where usually about two tables of 8 are playing where the blinds are only .10 and .20 and most people buy in for only 10 bucks, but EVERYONE rebuys and on a good night i can win 70-80 dollars, which isnt bad for this low blind limit. so im thinking the next time i play im gonna play alot of hands blind as long as i have position and sense weakness from the players, and continue to play it blind till they put me to the test. any comments?

Answer: I don't think that playing hands blind is a good idea. Normally what that means is that you don't look at your cards even and just play based on reading your opponents. I don't see any reason in doing that. Learning how to read people comes from paying attention to other peoples play, not neglecting your own.

My advice for small passive no limit games is to limp in with as many hands as you can. If everyone is new to the game and there is rarely any raising preflop then take advantage of that. Play more hands and try to flop something big that you can bust someone with; for example, if you have 45 and flop a straight and the person limped in with Aces and then goes all-in. That's how you make people pay who aren't aggressive preflop.

In limit games I wouldn't suggest playing many hands but in no limit the up side is so great that it really makes it worth while. Almost everytime I play in a lower limit no limit game I bust someone who had a big pair (AA or KK). They let me in, I flopped something big and then they couldn't dream of folding their hand.
