One Kicker Or Two?

Question:

Great site it has answered so many of my questions. Here is one for you that I did not know how to play.

Top 3 Beginner Rooms

My Hand: 7h 10d

Opponents Hand: 7c 8d

Flop/turn/river: 7d Ks 2h 7s 6h

This would make my hand: 7h 7d 7s Ks 10d

My opponents Hand: 7c 7d 7s Ks 8d

Who wins? I thought you would compare that we each had a 3 of a kind and go to the kicker that would be the King of Spades still a tie. We then thought you would go to the next biggest kicker that would be my 10 to his 8 which would give me the pot. Was this correct. The reason we are asking is me and my opponent agreed that this method was correct but one of the other players said that you can only use 1 kicker since the king was on the board for the both of us we would split the pot. I said you had to use five cards he said that does not matter you only have one kicker.

What is the call who wins the pot?

Thanks for your help.

Answer: You would have won the hand. You always compare the five best cards from the seven cards available. If instead of the 6h on the board there was a Jack, you would have chopped.
