Not Having Enough Money For Blinds

Question: In spread games, is it possible to be the big blind, but not having enough money to put it up? For example, You have $500, but the big blind is $1000. Are you forced to leave the table, since you cannot buy-in? If you are forced to leave, do you keep your $500? Maybe, you are all-in?

Answer: You are correct, that is what the all-in is for. You are never forced to fold a hand because you don't have enough money -- this includes the blinds. I just got done watching a new movie about poker called 'Shade' with Sylvester Stallone. I couldn't believe that they didn't consult with even one person who knew poker.

More then once in the movie the person was going to have to fold their hand because they didn't have enough to call. Also, when the person had a good hand he reached into his pocket for more money to "out bet" the other guy. Talk about disappointing... Maybe it would have been good to spend a whole hour on research and watch the World Poker Tour so they know what "all-in" means before making a movie and spending millions on it.
