Moving in with KK
Question: Last night i was playing a tourniment with my friends and i got dealt pocket kings. I was in last position and only one person called the blinds, so i move all in. The one person in the hand is an aggressive player and has already knocked out a few other people, so he has 4 times the amount of chips i have. My friend calls the bet and he has A7s. The cards come out and he ends up with an ace high flush. Was i making a mistake moving all in with pocket kings, was he just calling becuse he had 4 times the amout of chips i had, or was that a good play by him. Please help for next time.
Your site is great and i have learned a lot,
thanks

Answer: There is pretty much no situation where you wouldn't want to go all-in with KK preflop against one player. The only time you wouldn't want to make that move is if you knew he/she had AA but since having that read on someone isn't realistic then going all-in with KK is for all intents and purposes ideal -- you actually want one person to call you here so you can double up. Getting your all-in called by a suited Ace if you are a small stack is common but if you have 1/4th his chips then it wasn't exactly a small bet for him. I'm not sure what he thought you had that he could beat with A7 but people make strange plays all the time that get lucky and work out. This is just another one of those.
