Then, I was just watching World Series of Poker, and the winning hand was an Ace, 2,3,4,5 straight. So, whoever had been adamant about Aces not playing low in Holdem Poker apparently was wrong.

What is the answer?

Thanks,

Answer: In holdem poker, an Ace is considered a high card. An Ace is the highest card in the deck. There is on exception though, and it comes in the form of the lowest straight: A - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5. This straight is called, "the wheel." (...I'm assuming because it wraps around.) The Ace in this low straight counts as a one. The highest straight also involves the Ace: T - J - Q - K - A This straight is called, "Broadway." Lastly, an Ace has to either be high or low, it can't be both. For example, this isn't a straight: K - A - 2 - 3 - 4.
