Question/Comment: i am wondering how many cards are burned before the flop in texas holdem.

Answer: In texas holdem poker you burn one card before the flop, one card before the turn card and one card before the river card. By "burn", we mean take the top card off the deck and put it in the muck pile. I believe the reason for this dates back to when holdem poker games were mostly played outside cardrooms and casinos with dealers and it was used as a defense against cheating (stacking the deck).
