Exposing Cards Before Betting
Question: I was playing a no limit heads up game, and the other player was dealing. After the river was dealt I went all in. The other player did not call, did not say anything, did not touch his chips at all, but turned his cards over. He feels he wins all the money, but I think at best he only wins the same amount from me that he has in the pot, and the rest of my all in bet returns to me. Could you please resolve this argument.
Thank you,
John P.

Answer: I'm not positive on how this would be handled. I think there was a rule enacted while ago that stated you can't show people your cards while the hand is still in progress. This is a tourney rule only. That means you can't pull that "I'll show you one of them" business. I'm not sure if that applies here though. It doesn't seem fair to me that his hand would be mucked but at the same time he shouldn't be able to win any more additional bets from you (the last bet). If I were in charge, I would say that his hand stays live but he doesn't get to win the last bet. That may not be how other officials would deal with this -- they may be much stricter.
