Enter Tourney Late / No Limit Min. Bet

Question: This is a very informative site, thank you. I have two questions. First: At a home game of holdem(buy-in, winner take all) is it possible to allow someone to enter into game late .....even if you are allowing additional buy-ins.

Second: In "no-limit" TH, if you bet more than min. does that become new min bet. If so can you explain in what situation that could be.

Answer 1: It depends how late they come in. You might make a rule that they can enter the game within the first two levels but after that it is locked, otherwise you could have someone that wanted to enter the game right when the final two players were about to go heads up.

Answer 2: It depends when you make that bet; if there has already been a bet before then no; if there hasn't been a bet yet then yes. For example, let's say that the blinds are $10/20 and you raise preflop to $40. If I want to reraise the minimum I can reraise to $60. The increments are still $20. Now on the flop since no one has bet yet then the first bet becomes the increment. For example, let's say I bet half of your stack -- $300. To raise me you would have to raise to $600. If someone did that then if I wanted to reraise the least I could reraise would be to $900 (increments of $300 since that is the initial bet).
