Earn Rate In NL Holdem
Im playing NL 0,5/1 and sometimes 0,25/0,5 and max two tables at a time. The tables are 5 person tables if that matters.
I have done quite good for two weeks now and I would like to know if Im playing good or if Im just lucky.
My recent stats from 8 hours playing is: (last week was quite similar) Win total: $300
If I remember right it was about 600-700 hands.
I have read about earning rate about 1 BB/h in limit poker is good. But what's good for NL?
All the best,
Jonas

Answer: Games greatly vary, so I'm not a big proponent of hourly rates. Even in limit games, there are tough tight games and then loose passive games. In some limit games you can make much more than a big bet per hour overall, while in other games you may make less. The higher limits you play, the less your overall profit will be relative to the stakes. There are gamblers at all levels, but you'll find more experienced players and professionals at the middle and upper limits.
In no limit holdem it is even harder to predict how much you can realistically win because there are so extra variables -- different styles, money on the table, bluffs, etc. In limit holdem, it is really hard to make a huge amount in one session. Even on huge days of winning more than 5 racks, it isn't that big. In no limit holdem, you can make your whole month in one setting if the situation is right.
The best advice I can give for figuring out how much you are making is to do what you are doing now: track your results. I'm not sure what the buy-in is for a .5/1 game, but for 8 hours of play to win $300 is probably pretty big; to make that much consistently wouldn't be realistic.
