Definition of Wired Pairs

Question: Dear Sirs:

Last night, the "host" of a poker game on TV, keep saying that this or that player had "wired pairs"

It seemed to be on any pair, 2's, 5's, 9's etc.

I cannot find this term. Does it have a special meaning?

Thank you.

Answer: A wired pair is any pair that you have in your hole/pocket cards. This could consist of any pair 22 to AA. I think they call them "wired" because when you have them in your hand they are right next to each other and are connected. Another term that means the same thing is a pocket pair.
