Dealer Turns Over Cards
Question: I have noticed in some games the remaining players' cards are turned over and revealed by the dealer after the flop while in others the cards remain hidden until after the final betting round on the river. I am confused as to why the cards may be turned over before the final bets. Is there a particular circumstance that requires this or just a house rule? I haven't seen anything in the texas holdem rules.
Thanks,
Bruce

Answer: The dealer isn't supposed to reveal any cards until the showdown. Technically, the dealer shouldn't ever reveal cards, it is up to the players to flip them over (unless someone requests to see a hand that was called on the river). I think what you are talking about is tournament poker on TV. A lot of time when people are all-in and just have one opponent, they show their cards before the hand is over. It just kind of adds to the excitement. You won't see anyone do this though unless one player is all-in.
