Dealer Awarding Pot To Wrong Player

Question: I was playing in a cardroom when the table got to heads up and both hand were turned face up on the table, the dealer called the hand wrong and grabed the card to the real winning hand and mucked them, the player left with cards was sent the pot. The floor person was playing in the game and said wait and grabed the mucked cards from the muck and turned them back up and gave the pot to the real winning hand. What should have happen in this situation we have a disagreement as to who should have got the pot.

Thank you

Answer: You aren't supposed to be able to remove cards from the muck pile but I think there are exceptions. One exception is when the floor person says so! LOL They pretty much do whatever they want so if they say something, that's the law. Most of the time in these situations the floor person isn't called and the mucked hands aren't even shown -- everyone just jumps out of their seat at the dealer and corrects him/her. In this case since the floor was at the table then there shouldn't be a problem changing the pot from one person to the next but I still don't think he should have removed cards from the muck.
