Hr2 20/30 30/60

This is the only thing that I'm struggling with. Last tournament went well but i'm not so sure if that was right. One person went out in the third hour but that was do to bad betting. Also what about ante? Yes/no? NO REBUY-INS
THANKS!!
Answer: If that worked out fine before, then go with it again. Those blind sizes are about as high as you can go with the amount of players and the number of chips they initially get. Look at it this way, if two people remain at the very end they will have a total of $10,000 in chips for $240/400. If they each have $5000, that's not that much for that blind size but you may not want the tourney running on forever. Also, $1000 for a 20/40 game is like a rack, you may want to start there and go up a bit more gradually, or start at 10/20 and then go up so you have a little more play time before people get hammered out.
You could try:
BLINDS LIMITS
Hr1 5/10 10/20
Hr2 10/20 20/40
Hr3 20/40 40/80
Hr4 40/80 80/160
Hr5 100/200 200/400
I would prefer this blind ramp up if I was going to have $1000 in chips at a limit holdem tourney. I'm surprised that only one person got knocked out by the third hour. You guys must be playing pretty tight to make $1000 last that long with those blinds. You could use antes if you like but with the blinds already so big you don't need them -- there will already be enough money in the pot to get the action going. With that said though, I like antes even for games that don't usually use them because it's fun to have larger pots and screw around with your friends. You could even just have a set ante that doesn't change with the blinds. You just make the ante $5 the whole time. That would be fun and it would make the game crazier (more betting and raising).
