Big Blind Position Heads Up

Question: Great Site, helps out a bunch. In heads up play, does the big blind shift to the person without the button?? I have noticed online that when it comes down to heads up, all of a sudden the 'dealer' doesn't post the big blind, he posts the little blind. When does this shift occur?

Answer: That's correct. It is standard in heads up play for the dealer button to post the small blind and the other person post the big blind. This happens when a table goes from three players down to two. I think the reason for it that way is because if you posted the big blind on the dealer button then it would be very rare for the person to fold since they have money already invested in the pot and have better position. I think that would give the dealer button position too much power and the small blind not enough reason to play.
