Bank Roll For Moving Up To 1/2

Question: Hello,

First off I like to say your site is excellent. I just started playing Texas Holdem online for real money. I have read a few books and this weekend I will be reading the super system to improve my play. I am playing the .50/1.00 limit hold em's. I was wondering if it's possible to make decent money doing this. I am up 90 dollars over the past week(10 hours play time).

My bank roll is around 150.00. When should I make the plunge to 1.00/2.00 games?

Answer: I would wait till you get to $300 before moving up to $1/2. Then you should be nice and comfortable. 300 times the small bet isn't the best formula for having an adequate bank roll but for that level it should be fine. You need more money the higher the level gets because you run into strategy and conceptual shifts You shouldn't have much of a difference in competition between those limits though. You'll notice a change in holdem games when you get to 3/6, again at 5/10, again at 10/20 and 15/30, then again at 20/40 30/60 and 40/80, after that it is all about the same -- nasty.
