Question: I just had a question for you...some friends and I were playing last night and I wagered against one of my friendsin this dispute. I held pocket 8's and went all in. There were four people in the hand...(before the flop)..my buddy called me with Ace King Offsuit. I exclaimed that i had made a good choice because as long as nobody had pockets I would immediately have over a fifty percent chance of beating them. Whether it be 51 or whatever. (as you a see often on TV when they show the percentage they will win the hand next to it). My freind disagreed and said the Ace King was favored in our game. I am right correct? Thanks.

Answer: It is my understanding too that a pocket pair is a slight favorite over two overcards if you both are all-in and go till the river. I'm not sure how suits figure into the equation, for example if he had AKs and you didn't have one of his cards. On TV, like you said they consider it a coin flip but you are still a slight leader.
