Quads on the Board

Hi my name is Paula and I'm learning Texas Holdem

My question is if there is a four of a kind (for example 4 x 4's) on the board with a A kicker is it a share pot for the players?

Top 3 Beginner Rooms

Or would someone holding an A or a pair of Aces win it with a full house?

In these rules you only have to play 1 card.

but if I was holding a K and Q would I get a share?

1st Hand - A and A

2nd Hand - A and K

3rd Hand - K and K

Board - 4h 4d 4s 4c A

Who wins? or if no ones holding an A is it the next highest card from an A that wins?

It seems to me the highest hand is on the board. When there is a straight on the board its a share pot isn't it? or is that only if your holding a card that also gives you the straight.

1st Hand - 8 and 2

2nd Hand - 9 and 2

3rd Hand - 10 and 2

4th Hand - J and 2

Board - A K Q J 10

Who wins here? or if everyone was holding smaller cards(2's,3's,4's) is it a split pot because the highest hand is on the board? or is it the person with the next highest card that wins?

Thank you I hope its not too much trouble for you.

Have A Nice Day

Paula.

Answer:

Hi Paula,

Thanks for your questions.

You are right. In Hold'em the best possible five card poker hand always wins. You are also allowed to play the board (meaning only using the board cards to make a hand). In your first example 4 4 4 4 A is the best possible hand (the nuts) anyone can hold and the pot will be split between the players still in the hand. The same goes for your second example, an ace-high straight is on the board is an unbeatable hand so the pot will be split.

Regards, Clark
