Poker Bonuses Explained
Top 3 Beginner Rooms
Many of them sound too good to be true, and in some cases they probably are. On the other hand, a lot of the bonuses are certainly worth taking advantage of, and if you like playing poker; you'll have a great time scooping them up.
Finding the best bonus offer
With the popularity of online poker at its peak, the opportunities for bonus-hunters have never been this plentiful. The only problem is to decide which bonus offer to go with. All poker sites have requirements that have to be met before your bonus is paid out. The most common requirement is that you play a set amount of hands from which rake is taken. Other sites use player points to determine how much you've played, and pay out the bonus accordingly. The requirements may differ greatly between the poker rooms, and therefore it's important to carefully read the Terms & Conditions at the web site before signing up. Also make a note of how the bonus is paid out; as a lump sum or in smaller increments, and try to figure out how much you'll need to play in order to clear the bonus.
Small vs. High Stakes
When considering which bonus to take advantage of, there are a few things to keep in mind. Not all bonus offers are as good as they sound, an offer of 1000% deposit match up to $1000 may take weeks or months to clear if you're playing mainly low-limit poker.
If you prefer the smaller stakes, it's much more profitable to go for a slightly smaller bonus. These will clear much faster, and when they do, you're free to move your (now hopefully larger) bankroll to another poker room, or to take advantage of the loyalty schemes or reload bonuses offered by your present room.
Poker Bonus Lingo:
Sign-up Bonus: The initial bonus offered by the poker room when you create a new account and make your first deposit. This bonus is often the most profitable. Reload Bonus: An additional bonus offered either periodically or on a more sporadic basis when you make a new deposit. Deposit Match: The percentage added as a bonus to your deposit. If you find a bonus offer that says: $100 maximum bonus at a 50% match you have to deposit $200 to be eligible for the maximum bonus amount.
