Kill pot button in split pots

I know how kill pots work but I would like to know if a pot is split who gets the kill button and do both winners put up the kill amount? I have asked around but nobody seems to be sure though everyone has an opinion.

Answer:

Hi Al,

Glad to hear that you like the site.

That's a real interesting question, I've checked around but I'm not sure either. We don't have kill pots at my local casino, but my advice would be to ask a dealer. Please let me know if you get a coherent answer.

Second email:

Thanks for the response; I got an answer from Phil Nelson the owner of Fantasy Casino, a recreational casino based in Glendora, Ca. He said that a single winner is required in order to receive the kill button. Since there is no single winner in a split pot then the kill button would stay in the next pot. If the kill button had already been awared before the split pot then the button would also be returned to the next pot. This seems to make sense and you may want to post this on your site for any further thoughts on this.

Thanks, Al C
