Big Blinds Not Having Enough to Cover Blinds
Hello,
I have a question. I was playing at a regular game this evening and the big blind did not have enough to cover the blinds. Let's say the blinds were at 75/150 and the big blind only has 50. Is he eligible to win the blinds even if he did not have enough to cover, or can he only win the amount that he had in the first place?Top 3 Beginner Rooms
One of the guys that was playing said that even if he did not have enough to cover, he could still win the blinds. I said that he should only be able to win what he had in the first place.
Ex. He has 50 and has 3 callers and wins the hand, He should only be able to collect 50 from each person that called.
Is this correct?
I would appreciate it if you could help me with this problem

Answer:
Hi Kelli,
You are right. A player can only win the same amount as he/she contributes to the pot, so your example is correct. The player will be playing for a pot of totally 200 (his 50 and 50 from each of the other players). All the additional bets will be put into a side pot. In case the player with only 50 left has the best hand he will win the 200 in the main pot and the rest will be won by the player with the second best hand.
