Impossible hands?
Question:
In your section on Texas Holdem Poker Hand Ratings, when comparing full houses, you say: "Jacks full of tens (JJJ, TT) beats Jacks full of nines (JJJ, 99)." How can this ever happen? There are only four jacks in a 52 card deck. What am I missing here?
Thanks, Steve Seitel
P.S. Your site is VERY informative and helpful for this beginner. Thanks for putting it up.

Answer:
Hi Steve
If you play 5-card draw, 7-card stud etc, it's impossible for two players to have the hands you describe - just as you say, there aren't enough jacks in the deck. But since texas holdem is played with community cards, it's actually possible. Say that player 1 holds JT, and player 2 holds J9. The board shows J J T 9 2. This results in jacks full of tens against jacks full of nines.
