I flopped a monster. Should I go all-in?
Question:
I have been playing Step tournament at Party Poker & early in the tournament I'm dealt 9Qo, one player checked before me, I raised a small amount & 2 players called after me. The flop come 9Q9 so I push all in. To my surprise, the guy just before me push all in & I was pretty sure I got him beat.

However, when the cards were revealed it showed that he had KK. The turn card then came K & the river 8. I'm out of the tournament in 9 th position &I certainly blame it on the BAD BEAT. The question is, in such a situation would you go all-in? If not, what would you advise me to do?
Thanks,
Sam
Answer:
The size of the stacks and blind size etcetera would be of great help here. Generally you should not go all-in here. You have flopped a monster hand and want someone to call your bet. In this situation you got lucky and a guy with only two outs called, but you will probably force people that are drawing dead to you, with for example a straight-draw, to fold.
My advice is to check if the pot is big compared to the stacks, and bet a small amount to build the pot if the players in the pot have big stacks. An example: if the pot is 1000 and the average stack is 1,000 you should check. If the pot is 1,000 and the average is 5,000 you could bet something like 400 to build up for larger bets on later streets.
