HiLife Poker is a fairly recent addition to the online poker market but it already has one huge thing going for it: access to some of the softest games on the net via the Cake Poker network.

Add in a nice loyalty program, some solid live-tournament satellites and $75k in guaranteed tournaments daily, and it's tough to find a better or more lucrative place for beginners to play in 2001.

Not that you can't find a bit of Omaha or Omaha Hi-Lo action, but by far the greatest range of action is in low-limit Holdem - although to be fair, it is spread across a wide range of MTTs, SNGs and cash games.

If you're an old school Seven-Card Stud fan, you're out of luck here though.

Software: Looks Great, Plays Well

HiLife is probably the nicest looking skin on the Cake network with a clean design and intuitive lobby and table setting.

Fairly simple table views and customizations, for sure, but nice enough and competent with standard features like auto-rebuys, player notes and direct seating registration.

Who Let The Fish Out?

Bottom line is the skill level on HiLife Poker is well below most sites and in 2011 that's a rarity.

At HiLife it's almost like 2003 all over again with primarily recreational players as opposed to the hardcore grinders you'd find on Stars or Tilt.

For players who have tired of finding sharks lying in wait wherever they go, HiLife is a revelation.

True, it's mostly playing for small stakes. But you play poker to make money not lose it, right?
