Pai Gow Poker Tips

Pai Gow poker is a fun game that combines some of the elements of poker with some elements of traditional table games. The game moves at a reasonable pace and is not terribly complex. It is a great game to relax with when looking for a few peaceful hours of gaming entertainment. Here are a few tips to keep your Pai Gow poker game sharp.

Pai Gow Poker Tip -- Be the Banker

Once per round, each player has the option to be the banker. For maximum profit, you should always accept this option.

Most of the House edge in Pai Gow poker comes from the five percent commission that player must pay on all winning bets. When you are the banker, all bets calculate before this commission is taken. You effectively get to deduct your losses before being taxed on your winnings, an option you do not have from any other position.

Pai Gow Poker Tip 2 -- The House Way

If you cannot figure out the best way to set your hand, don't be afraid to let the dealer set your hand for you. He will set the hand exactly the way he would if it were his own hand. There is no disadvantage to you as the player for letting the dealer set the hand the House way.

If you prefer not to do this, keep in mind that in general you would like to make your front hand as strong as possible. If you can get a pair or ace king in front, you should endeavor to do so.

Pai Gow Poker Tip 3 -- Comps and Bonuses

Pai Gow poker is a great game for earning comps and bonuses because it tends to move very slowly. Most hands end in a tie, so money does not change hands that often. When it does, it goes to the player just as often as to the dealer.

You can put a lot of money at stake without losing very much in Pai Gow poker. For this reason many live and online casinos do not allow you to count Pai Gow poker towards earning bonuses. However, you should find out if they do because it would be a great opportunity.
