If there is a four-of-a-kind in the table, the player with the highest kicker wins the pot. For example, if there are four aces on the table, any player with a king in his hand, will win the pot. If no one has a king, any player with a queen in his hand will win the pot, and so on.

If there is another four-of-a-kind on the table (not aces), any player with an ace in his hand will win the pot.

If two or more players have the same kicker they split the pot.

In some cases the best possible kicker will be on the table, for example, if the board reads J-J-J-J-A. In this case every player still in the hand at the showdown will split the pot, no matter what their hole cards are.

It's also a split pot when no one has a higher kicker than the fifth card on the table. If the board, for example, reads 9-9-9-9-J, and player A is holding 8-8, and player be is holding J-T, it's a split pot. Both players have four nines with a jack kicker.
