Wondering where Poker.com players went when the real-money games on that site shut down? The answer is Carbon Poker - one of two sites on the newly formed Merge Gaming Network, launched in February 2007 with Poker.com's player base.
It's also one of the few networks still accepting U.S. players, so while Carbon Poker may be a relatively new site, it's off to a running start as far as player volume goes and it's added a number of strong features on top to keep the momentum going.
First and foremost is the software. Innovative features, crisp graphics and a quality multi-tabling experience all make Carbon Poker a pleasure to play at. Game play is fairly loose and fast as well, which makes for profitable games for skilled players.
Game selection is also strong with Texas Hold'em, Seven-Card Stud Hi and Hi-Lo, Omaha Hi and Hi-Lo, Razz, Five-Card Stud, Five-Card Draw, Triple Draw and Badugi all offered.
Tournament and ring-game offerings are decent so far, although with a growing player base they are expanding quickly. A monthly $50,000 comp point freeroll has already been added to the schedule, and more games and limits are popping up all the time.
Real-money tournament players sit at about 2,000 at peak hours as of September 2007. Cash games peak around 400 players.
