Betting related limit Texas holdem questions

Hi, I have a few question about Texas Hold'em limit poker. I am trying to understand the precise order and betting structure especially when there are multiple all-in players and multiple side pots.

Top 3 Beginner Rooms

1. The first thing I would like to know is if a player goes all-in during the first betting round (after the pocket cards are dealt - pre-flop) do the non all-in players have to finish any and all bets they may have if they decide to stay in the hand and then the flop, turn and river are dealt to all players without anymore betting allowed or do the non all-in players continue to bet as normal during the pre-flop betting round and then the flop is dealt and the non all-in players continue to bet after the flop, turn and river as normal unless of course one or more of the non all-in players subsequently goes all-in?

2. If the non all-in players have to finish any and all bets they may have at pre-flop (or whatever betting round the first all-in players is currently going all-in at) and no more betting is allowed, then if there are multiple all-in players, is it safe to assume that the multiple all-in players will always be going all-in during the same betting round?

3. What is the maximum theoretical number of draws possible during a showdown with 9 or 10 players all going to showdown? If there is a draw and the pot does not divide equally between the players how does the remaining money get distributed?

Thanks Chris

Answer:

Thanks for your questions. I have tried to answer them below.

1. The betting continues as usual when a player is all-in. But all additional after the player is all in are put in a side pot. And the all-in player can only win what's in the main pot.

2. A player is all-in when he/she is out of chips. This can happen in any betting round. If several players are all-in at different stages of the hand, several side pots are created.

3. I am not sure that I understand the last player, but I can say that it is extremely rare that 9 or 10 players go to showdown in a hand. All the money is won by the player(s) holding the best hand. Say the best hand would be on the board in the example you describe, then the pot would be divided among all the remaining players. If the chips are not dividable the extra chips are given to the players closest to the left of the dealer in descending order.

Hope this answers your questions.
Good luck!

Regards, Clark
