Running Sevens To Win

I don't know if this qualifies as the worst beat ever, but it's got to be pretty close. This beat is the reason I will no longer play online poker because I'm thinking a beat like this could only happen online.

I had big slick. Suited. But that's irrellevant to the hand.

I bring it in with a raise. I get re-raised. The amounts escape me in restrospect. So I just call, as big slick can miss.

Flop comes up A A K.

I check raise. He goes all in. I put him on either A K, which would tie or on K K which I would beat him. So I call.

Turn is a 7, river is a 7.

He had pocket 7's.

It's beats like that that I've only had happen online. And gives me a reason to not trust these sites anymore. I'll just stick to live tables.

Comment: Ouch. That's brutal. I can understand how that play would seem really ridiculous and suspicious. One way of looking at it is like you did, that the sites are cheating. Another way to look at it would be to want to play online more, just because there are guys who are so reckless. I think bad beats are easier to cope with offline. They are never fun, but at least offline you can see how stupid the guy looks when he is making moves -- it feels unlucky, not like you are cheated. My advice would be to keep playing so you give the numbers a chance to work for you. And technically, that is the worst beat in holdem.
