KQ Busted My AK

I was playing in a no limit texas holdem tounament yesterday. I do not know if this was a bad beat or just my stupid decision.

I was dealt Ace King, 8 players at the table and 1 guy raises 2000. At this point I am getting low stacked because the ante was way up and I was getting some bad cards for a long time. I figured this was my time to make my move.

I go all in and he calls. He flips his cards over and he has a king and a queen, I have Ace king. The flop comes out and its 8, Ace, 3. I got him smoked right? Nah, he pulls a Jack on the turn and a 10 on the river and there was his straight. I lose and am out of the tourney I worked so hard to hand around in. What a dumb move.

Looking back at it, I think I should have called his bet instead of going all in and when the flop came out 8, Ace, 3 maybe he would have folded if I raised.

Comment: No, you played it right. Don't second guess putting your money in with the best hand just because he got insanely lucky. You needed to, and should have, put everything in preflop. That was the ideal scenario. You have him dominated (drawing to 3 outs or less). Hands like that are how you make money in poker. Even though it didn't work out, you tell yourself, "I'll play the hand the same way next time too."
